ARY TV decides to take on PML-N government for registering a case against it

Islamabad, Aug 26 (www.pakdestiny.com) The ARY has decided to take on the PML-N government and ‘independent’ judiciary after the Balochistan government has registered a case against its CEO Salman Iqbal and other officials under Terrorism Act against for airing footage of an attack on Ziarat Residency.

Besides Salman Iqbal, Senior Executive Director Owais Tohid, Quetta Bureau Chief Shahid Rind and Islamabad Bureau Chief Sabir Shakir have been named in the FIR.

Militants had attacked the Ziarat Residency in June where Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah spent the last days of his life. The building was destroyed and a policeman killed.

The provincial government’s move angered journalists unions across the country with many announcing they would protest until the cases were withdrawn.

The Supreme Court has taken a suo notice of the airing of the video by ARY.

Mubashir Lucman is spearheading the ARY case against the government. Describing it a attack on freedom of speech, the ARY has declared war on the PML-N government and those want to close it. – Pak Destiny
