Fatemi is sacked while the premier directed that the role of Daily Dawn/ Mr Zafar Abbas/ Mr Cyril Almeida (editor and reporter) in the instant matter shall be referred to All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) for necessary disciplinary action to be taken against them.

Nawaz Sharif also ordered action against Rao Tehsin Ali, Principal Information Officer of the Ministry of Information, under the E&D Rules 1973 on the charges based on findings of the inquiry report.
This action has been announced in a press release issued by PM’s principal secretary Fawad Hasan Fawad who is accused of committing massive corruption by federal minister Riaz Peerzada.

The press release says, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif approved an inquiry committee’s recommendation to remove Fatemi from his post. Allocation of portfolio of Foreign Affairs to Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, shall be withdrawn. Fatemi was primarily responsible for leaking the report of the key meeting to the newspaper without due permission.
“PM Nawaz further directed that the role of Daily Dawn/ Mr Zafar Abbas/ Mr Cyril Almeida in the instant matter shall be referred to All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) for necessary disciplinary action to be taken against them, the notice read. The APNS shall also be asked to develop a Code of Conduct for the print media especially when dealing with issues relating to security of Pakistan and to ensure that stories on issues of national importance and security are published by abiding to basic journalistic and editorial norms.”
Cyril Almeida in last October published a story in daily Dawn about a high-level meeting on national security in which it said the Ppakistan army was reluctant to take action against Saeed’s Jammatud Dawah, Jaish Muhammad and Haqqani group. The story was considered a security breach.
ARY Journalist Arif Hameed said: “It seems some NRO is signed between the establishment and Nawaz government over Dawn leaks.” It is a win win situation for Nawaz government. It seems a big threat to Nawaz’s government is averted.- Pak Destiny
