HUM TV play ‘Sirf Dost’ served with notice for ‘sexy’ dialogues

(Pak Destiny) HUM TV is served another notice by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) for ‘sexy’ dialogues and meaningful title in its play ‘Sirf Dost’.

PEMRA in an official statement said on Tuesday that a show cause notice to HUM TV for violating Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015 in the episode titled “Sirf Dost” of the drama serial “Kitni Girhain Baaqi Hain” has been issued. HUM TV aired the said drama on May 21, 2017.

PEMRA said it has received a number of complaints on its twitter account and complaint call center where the viewers criticized the subject matter and theme of the drama and asked PEMRA to take action. Consequently, PEMRA issued the notice to HUM TV directing the management to appear before the PEMRA committee and submit its reply within seven (7) days i.e. by May 30, 2017 12:00pm. In case of non-compliance, PEMRA will be forced to proceed ex-parte.

HUM TV earlier had received similar notice from PEMRA in other plays. Sexy remarks, kissing like gesture and indecent and vulgar acts have become regular feature of our dramas on private TV channels that needs to be stopped forthwith. – Pak Destiny
