Islamabad (Pak Destiny) The Nawaz government instead of implementing the court’s order to arrest Jang/Geo group owner Mir Shakilur Rehman, it helped him escape the country.
The MSR today fled the country for Dubai with the help of the government ministers and agencies.
Pak Destiny had yesterday disclosed that after the court’s decision the PML-N ministers who are close to MSR held a meeting and devised a strategy to give him relief.
The Gilgit Biltistan anti-terrorism court yesterday had sentenced MSR along with Shaista Wahdi, Veena Malik and her husband for airing a blasphemous programme to 26 years in prison. Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, owner of Geo and Jang group, was accused of allowing the airing of a blasphemous programme by Geo television in May, which played a religious song while staging a mock marriage of Malik with Bashir.
Judge Shahbaz Khan also sentenced both Malik and Bashir along with TV host Shaista Wahidi for 26 years each. The ATC also imposed a 1.3 million Pakistani rupees fine on the convicts and ordered that their properties should be sold to raise the fine, if they failed to pay it. The judge said in his judgment that all four accused committed profanity.
Sources told Pak Destiny that MSR today left for Dubai on Emirates’ flight from Islamabad. “A PML-N minister who is very close to MSR made all the arrangements for his escape,” they said. The court had also ordered confiscation of the passport of MSR.
Let’s see if the government faces ire of the judiciary over its alleged involvement in helping MSR to escape the country. – Pak Destiny
