PEMRA issues notice to Asif Hashmi’s ‘Aman TV’

Islamabad, Aug 21 (www.pakdestiny.com) The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has issued a show-cause notice to Sheraz Hashmi, chief executive of Aman TV, for violating its rules.

Chief Executive of M/s Sunbiz (Pvt. Ltd) Sheraz is the son of former Evacuee Trust Proprty Board chairman Asif Hashmi.

The PEMRA says that the licensee (of Aman TV) has suspended transmission of its channel without approval of the authority thus violating Section 28 of PEMRA Ordinance 2002.

PEMRA has asked Mr Sheraz Hashmi to show cause within 15 days otherwise the license may be cancelled.

The company is also directed to appear for personal hearing on Sept 9, 2013 at PEMRA office in Islamabad. In the event no response is received from the company or it failed to appear for personal hearing the matter shall be decided ex-parte, in your absence .

Asif Hashmi is living in London these days as he is facing a case of selling the board’s land to the DHA without following the proper procedure in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
