Islamabad (Pakdestiny) The Pakistan People’s Party has asked the anchors of the electronic media to stop acting like ‘monkeys’ to get high rating of their programmes.
PPP Senator Farhatullah Babar, spokesman for Asif Ali Zardari, has deplored that some TV channels and anchor persons have been giving so much of airtime to so much of ‘nonsense’ in the craze for rating even when the charade was obvious. “It may have earned them some fleeting moments of hurrah at someone’s expense but has not enhanced values of professionalism,” he deplored.
For the past several days one Ms. Tanvir Zamani has been appearing almost regularly on the television channels masquerading as a PPP leader and at times even as a spokesperson of the PPP, he said. “Any impression that the said lady is some sort of a leader of the Pakistan People’s Party is totally wrong and is rejected.”
The Senator said it is categorically stated that Ms. Zamani holds no Party office whatsoever either in Pakistan or in its overseas wing. Any impression of she being a party leader or an office bearer is either based on total ignorance or is mischievously motivated, he said.
“A totally wrong impression is also sought to be created in the media interviews that former President Mr. Asif Ali Zardari has married this woman.The rumors of Mr. Zardari having married this lady have unfortunately been deliberately aided by the said lady by avoiding answers to pointed questions, speaking with double tongue and otherwise employing gestures and pauses in replies to the questions,” the spokesperson said.
“This is not new. The rumors of Mr. Asif Zardari having re-married were first floated on the net during his years in the Presidency in 2011. At that time also, on Feb 3, 2011 the Presidency while denying the rumors had deplored and condemned the launch of a vicious and unethical tirade on the net as utter nonsense.” he said.
Jang/Geo media group had ran this story in 2011 for which Zardari sent a defamation notice to the group but no decision is given on it as yet.
Mr Babar said: “Mr. Asif Zardari has the unique honor of being the spouse of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and son in law of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He regards this an honor for which he has endured all sorts of vicious attacks and even jeers and ridicule. Those wishing to peddle the rumors of marriage would do well to realize that Mr. Zardari possesses a great sense of history. He would like to live and die as the spouse of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and son in law of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and would hate to barter away this honor for anything else. Pak Destiny
