Facebook ban threat in Pakistan averted after blasphemous content removed widely

(Pak Destiny) Good news for Pakistani Facebook users. Facebook is not going to be banned on the issue of blasphemous content.
Entertaining the Pakistan interior ministry request the Facebook administration has deleted almost 85pc blasphemous content from Facebook.

Today the ministry told the Islamabad High Court that “Facebook administration has been blocking illegal blasphemous content on Pakistan’s request and 85 per cent of such material on the social networking site has already been removed.”

Interior Secretary Arif Khan said in his report that Facebook had responded to their letter and showed its willingness to remove content deemed blasphemous. “The remaining 15pc will be removed as well, Facebook administration has assured us,” he said.
Earlier IHC Chief Justice Shaukat Siddiqui had warned closing down the Facebook in Pakistan if blasphemous content is not removed from Facebook. – Pak Destiny
