
The University of Central Punjab (UCP) celebrated the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China with a grand ceremony marked by cultural pride and academic recognition. The event, held at the university’s main campus, was graced by the Consul General of China in Lahore, Mr. Zhao Shiren, as the chief guest.
The highlight of the occasion was the distribution of the Chinese Consulate Scholarships 2025, awarded to 21 outstanding students in recognition of their academic excellence and leadership potential. More than 40 members of the Chinese community residing in Lahore attended the event, reflecting the growing friendship and cooperation between the two nations.


The ceremony began with a warm welcome address by Professor Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt, Dean at UCP, who expressed deep gratitude to the Chinese Consulate for supporting talented Pakistani students. He lauded China’s continued investment in education and mutual understanding through scholarship programs.
A series of short documentaries showcasing Chinese culture, scientific achievements, and bilateral collaboration were also screened, adding a visual dimension to the celebration.


In his remarks, Consul General Zhao Shiren commended UCP’s efforts in strengthening academic and cultural ties between China and Pakistan. He announced that the scholarship fund would be increased to two million rupees starting next year, further expanding opportunities for deserving students. He congratulated the award recipients and reaffirmed China’s commitment to promoting educational and economic partnerships with Pakistan.
The ceremony concluded with a group photograph and presentation of commemorative gifts, symbolizing the spirit of friendship and cooperation. Dr. Hammad Naveed delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the participation of distinguished guests and the continued support of the Chinese Consulate.
