Channel 24 gets fine of Rs1m for doing program against PMLN Daniyal Aziz’s father’s alleged corruption

     (Pak Destiny)  The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA)  today imposed Rs1 million on Mohsin Naqvi’s Channel 24 for airing of false and malicious statements about the family of Anwar Aziz, father of PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz,  in the program “Khara Such” dated 25-05- 2016 hosted by Mubashir Lucman. Lucman ‘exposed’ corruption of Anwar Aziz.

       According to a statement issued by PEMRA,  Council of Complaints in its 67 th meeting held at the Regional Office Lahore, under the chair of Dr. Mehdi Hassan recommended a fine of Rs1m to Channel 24. Interestingly, Mehdi Hassan got afraid of taking action against analyst Orya Maqbool Jan when he stormed his office along with his 200 supporters. Jan had done a biased program against a minority sect.      PEMRA further said regarding the complaint filed by Dr. Haider Ashraf Dy. Inspector General of Police against ARY News, Capital News, City 42 & Waqt News for broadcasting of old / fake footages taken from social media for the sake of sensationalism, panic and harassment among the general public, the Council adjourned the matter due to non-appearance of the complainant and non-submission of reply by the channels.
    With regard to a complaint by Mr. Muhammad Akram Malik Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan against Channel 92, the matter was adjourned till the next meeting of COC, Lahore due to non-appearance of the complainant. The matter of District Police Officer, Okara against Channel 92 for telecasting fake campaign against police officials of District Okara, the Council adjourned the matter till next meeting of COC with directions to appear along with evidences.
    While hearing the complaint of Mr. Afzal Syed Ali against A-Plus program ‘Jago Jago Subha Huwi’, dated 27.10.2016 the Council recommended a fine of Rs. 100,000/- to A- Plus for non-appearance before the Council. In the matter of Malik Sanaullah resident of
Gujranwala and Channel 5, the grievance of the complainant was addressed by Channel 5 for not handing over the car won through lucky draw in program ‘Marhaba Ramzan’ dated 18-06- 2016.
     The Council recommended a fine of Rs. 100,000/- to Silver Screen for change of frequency without prior approval of PEMRA and airing of objectionable content due to change of frequency. While hearing the complaint against M/s Golden Star Cable Network Kasur, the Council recommended a fine of Rs. 50,000/- to M/s Golden Star Cable Network Kasur for violations of PEMRA Laws. – Pak Destiny
