Writer-Lyricist Javed Akhtar of India came under spotlight after his controversial remarks regarding Mumbai attacks went viral on Tuesday making a top Twitter trend in Pakistan.
In a recent visit to Lahore at a Faiz Mela, Akhtar said 26/11 Mumbai attackers came from here and till today those involved in it are roaming freely in its territory.
Replying to a question Akhtar said, “Hum toh Bambaiye log hain. Hamne dekha wahan kaise hamla hua tha. Wo log Norway se toh nahi aaye the naa Egypt se aaye the, wo log abhi bhi aapke mulk me ghum rahe hain. Toh ye shikayat agar Hindustani ke dil mein ho toh aapko bura nahi manna chahiye.”
“People who came to attack Mumbai didn’t come from Norway or Egypt. They are still roaming free in Pakistan and every Indian has this complaint in his heart”

Good Javed Akhtar pointed this out sitting in Lahore himself. But Pakistan is beyond redemptionpic.twitter.com/WQyJYi3i0r
Javed Akhar is an affected Indian Muslim trying hard to be more Indian and less Muslim.

I respect the ethic. I respect the writing. But the man needs a plan.
This was us, 15 years ago, when I was on assignment in India.
This was sad and embarrassinghttps://t.co/jP6WJBN0b6
Further calling out Pakistan’s reluctance in showering love on Indian artistes, he reminded the gathering that though Pakistani artists like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Mehndi Hasan went on to become ‘cult figure’ in India but Islamabad never reciprocated the gesture by hosting any musical show for Lata Mangeshkar.
Mixed comments made on Akhtar’s statement.
Shahab said on Twitter: “Will never understand why Lahore elite are so complexed about “Indian literary culture” that they conflate Urdu with Indian. To the extent that Javed Akhtar is the hill they want to die on. Repeatedly. Abay Javed Akhtar ko hum Karachi walay nahin poochtay.”
Sehar Tariq says “A little sad to see Pakistanis fawning all over Javed Akhtar- he has never been a friend to Pakistan. Wonder what prompted the Faiz Festival folks to invite him and give him a stage at this point in time?”
Mehwish says “Literally no one buys that syrup bro. And Javed Akhtar’s parallel can be drawn with our liberal erudite writers who criticize our state in ways 99% Indian liberals cant even fathom. So please do your research before making such assumptions.”
Maria says “When IK says there has been an elite capture he’s not only talking politics: Javed Akhtar’s easy travels thru Pak, LUMS organizing a national identity crisis day or COMSATS question on incest are markers that sentiments of d middle class have been pushed 2 an absolute background.”

This is how the ISI-PakArmy terror nexus can be busted – deliver the message direct to the people of Pakistan – only then we can hope for some progress. BTW – incredibly brave thing for Javed Akhtar to do on Pakistani soil… https://t.co/2p2IbiyzSc
For Javed Akhtar, pait-rotism is real.

Shame on the Pakistani idiots cheering him, ZERO self-respect. All these platforms giving space to people like JA need to introspect. A Pakistani family visiting Mumbai's Haji Ali dargah slept on road as no hotel was willing to lodge them. https://t.co/b9tKkGReV6
Hello Javed Akhtar! if "terrorists" were roaming freely in Pak, they would have done this to you what your "terrorists" did with Kulkarni in Mumbai in 2015. pic.twitter.com/rirsoqLA91

Javed Akhtar has a history of spewing venom against 🇵🇰

He doesnt leave any chance of dragging terrorism into entertainment. We have suffered the most from RAW-funded attacks in 🇵🇰 Kalbhushan is a living eg. who exposed them.
Yet he was called here huhpic.twitter.com/r4NNselYdy
Lata Mangeshker was Bal Thackeray's disciple & she said I would never step on the soil of Pakistan. She hated Muslims & boycotted singing with Mohammed Rafi. Javed Akhtar is same. 26/11 perpetrators were all Indians they were speaking Marathi lang. It was a false flag operation https://t.co/VtmDxtWKQu

Art has no border but artists doo. Javed Akhtar doesn't shy away from mentioning Mumbai attacks in Pakistan and Pakistani artists would have done the same in India had their future prospects not been linked with Bollywood pic.twitter.com/mhwU2F6aBC

Omair tweeted “The main difference between us and them is: If someone from Pakistan was invited to India (if!) and had said something along the lines of Javed Akhtar, he might not have made it out of the venue let alone the country. Tolerance is something we have in abundance. Thank You Jinnah.” PAK DESTINY
