Pakistan has successfully won the bid to host the 12th Asian Buffalo Congress (ABC-2027) in 2027, a landmark event that underscores the country’s growing prominence in buffalo research and production.

The announcement was made during the 11th Congress in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where Professor Dr. Muhammad Ijaz, Chairman of the Department of Veterinary Medicine at UVAS Lahore, was also elected President of the Asian Buffalo Association (ABA). This marks the return of the Congress to Pakistan after 18 years, with the last event held in 2009. Supported by the Government of Pakistan and organized by University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore in collaboration with the Livestock and Dairy Development Department and International Buffalo Federation, the Congress will bring together global experts to address challenges in buffalo productivity, breed characterization, disease management, and the marketing of milk, meat, and by-products, fostering innovation and sustainable practices in this vital sector.
