How did PTI manage to put up a successful show despite police onslaught in the first day of “Free Imran Khan Movement”

The PTI supporters on Tuesday took to the streets  for the release of former prime minister Imran Khan.

On the other hand, Punjab police detained around 500 PTI workers in the province mostly in Lahore.

Imran had issued a nationwide protest call, with a statement attributed to him saying that the “movement that begins on August 5 will continue until democracy is restored in its true spirit”.

According to PTI leader Asad Qaiser, August 5 was the inception of the protest, but it should not be considered a “final call”.

“An elder like Rehana Dar is being dragged by the shameless Punjab Police, a disgraceful sight,” the PTI said on its official X account.

It shared a video showing Dar, who contested the 2024 general elections in Sialkot against PML-N’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, being dragged into a police van by personnel with riot gear.

The PTI said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Punjab Inspector General Dr Usman Anwar “have sunk to a new low with this act” and “abandoned all sense of shame and decency”.

On the special instructions of PTI Central President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, a rally was organized in Lahore for Imran Khan’s release and Kashmir Exploitation Day under the leadership of his sister Begum Samaira Elahi, Begum Kausar Muhammad Khan Bhatti from Mandi Bahauddin, and Liaquat Ali Bhatti, President of the Farmers’ Wing of Mandi Bahauddin.

PTI leaders and workers were holding placards and banners with pictures of Imran Khan and Ch Parvez Elahi. Begum Samaira Elahi and Begum Kausar Muhammad Khan Bhatti raised slogans like “Release Imran Khan, Kashmir will become Pakistan” and in favor of Ch Parvez Elahi.

The PTI has termed the protest a successful show saying the fascist regime will have to surrender before the will of the people.

In other parts of Punjab, the PTI workers came out on roads in large numbers and lodged their protest.

The PMLN government in Punjab termed the PTI protest a flop show. PAK DESTINY
