Islamabad, May 5 (Pak Destiny) In defiance of the court order Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan reportedly stopped the Islamabad police to register a case against Jang/Geo owner Mir Shakilur Rehman and his employee Amir Mir.

The Islamabad High Court on last Saturday had ordered for the registration of an FIR against Geo News, Mir Shakil ur Rahman and Amir Mir, for levelling base-less allegations on the ISI.
On Sunday the petitioner Arshad Butt showed the court’s order to Islamabad police for registration of the case. But the police refused saying they had orders from top officers not to register a case against Mir Shakil and others.
Well placed sources told Pak Destiny that Chaudhry Nisar is waiting a green signal from PM Nawaz Sharif who is allegedly backing the Geo group.
Since Iftikhar Chaudhry is out of the scene both PML-N and Geo are feeling deprived. The Islamabad police decision falls in contempt of court. Let’s see how long the PMLN defies the court order in this case.
Additional Session Judge, Jehangir Awan had heard the petition filed for the registration of a case against Geo News, its owner and Amir Mir.
The petitioner, Arshad Butt requested the court for the registration of an FIR against Geo News for maligning Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).
During the hearing, the counsel of the petitioner, Raja Zahoor ul Hassan appeared before the court.
The court after listening to the arguments of the lawyers, ordered for the registration of an FIR against Geo News, Mir Shakil ur Rahman and Amir Mir.
The court further directed the authorities to register the FIR under the clause 7-ATA of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The petitioner Arshad Butt had filed the petition urging for registration of a case against Geo News, under the clause 22-A.
Amir Mir had levelled allegations against the prime intelligence agency after his brother Hamid Mir was attacked in Karachi. – Pak Destiny
