The historic Pakistan visit of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton rekindle the memories of Lady Diana in the mind of most of Pakistanis.

It is Diana’s son and daughter-in-law here since Prince Charles and his wife Camilla  in 2006.  The late Diana visited Pakistan thrice — 1991, 1996 and 1997 — to help raise awareness and funds for the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital.

The royal couple is here on a five day visit in which they also visit Lahore and Chitral. It is a special experience for Prince Charles visiting Pakistan because of his mother factor.  Diana came here first in 1991. Diana visited girls schools, Badashahi Mosque and Kinnaird College and Chitral Scouts. Her bodyguard, Ken Wharfe who had written in his book: “The headlines screamed that Diana had taken Pakistan by storm, that her visit had been a resounding success. The tabloids predictably hailed her vociferously as the jewel in the royal family’s crown, one of them claiming, employing a typically lame pun, that she was “All the Raj.”

It is believed that this visit of the Royal couple will go a long way in the relations of Pakistan and Britain.

People of Pakistan are happy to see the British royal couple among them. Pak Destiny
