Model/Actress Rabia Butt bids farewells entertainment industry following the death of her mother

Rabia Butt’s career flight seems to have come to a premature stop as the actor-model has finally called time on the media industry, reported the Roznama Express. Butt had earlier mulled the possibility of severing ties with the local entertainment industry but was unable to do so as several of her projects were already in production.

“I had already made the decision of announcing my departure from the media setup following the death of my mother. Apart from this there are no other reasons for leaving the industry,” Butt told Roznama Express, adding that her decision was not influenced any particular person and should not fuel rumours of her settling down.

“I never had any intention of working in films or television serials. It was by pure coincidence that I signed Hijrat,” added Butt. She stated that she is very impulsive when it comes to making decisions and recalls having refused numerous offers for film roles while working as a model but agreed instantly after she was approached for the lead role in Hijrat. “I liked my role in the film hence I wasted no time in signing on to the project.”

Sources close to The Express Tribune revealed that the shoot of Hijrat, which will be her last project, was stalled in the middle, following a fall-out with the director Farouq Mengal.

Later on, the dust had settled and she was very much a part of the final leg of shooting that ended recently.

Butt said her decision was final and she would not be reconsidering it despite the success or failure of her upcoming movie. “There was nothing more important to me than my mother and no film’s success or failure is enough to have an impact on my personal life.”

In an earlier interview with the publication, the actor had also spoken about her transition from ramp to reel and how working in films would allow her to showcase her creative side. “All this was a new experience for me and I am hopeful that it would open more opportunities for me,” she had said.

Rabia was not available for a comment despite repeated attempts.
