PCB Chairman Mani imports his ‘buddy’ from UK on managing director slot against whopping Rs2.2m… a shame for PM Khan’s anti-nepotism policy

By Kiran Bokhari

Another big nepotism case has been surfaced in the Naya Pakistan of Prime Minister Imran Khan. PM Khan’s buddy Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ehsan Mani has appointed has imported his buddy from the UK and appointed him as Managing Director of the Cricket Board on a whooping Rs2.2 million per month salary.  Mani appointed his crony  Dr. Wasim Khan, a British national, on the all important MD slot. Isn’t it a big shame for the PTI government that is grossly promoting their friends on important positions.

Perhaps Najam Sethi, former PCB chairman, now appears a less nepotism-friendly.   Former Test fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz has asked justification of Khan appointment on such a huge package.  He said Khan had no knowledge about the problems and issues confronting Pakistan cricket. He contended that the post be given to a competent Pakistani national.

Sarfraz also appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar to take notice of the appointment of Wasim Akram in the PCB’s cricket committee despite the fact the former fast bowler had been penalized by one-man judicial commission of Justice (retd.) Abdul Qayyum in a match-fixing scam back in the 1990s.

PM Khan should at least stop lecturing on nepotism of teh Sharif family as he and his team are no different from that of their predecessors. – Pak Destiny
