Showering of PTV’s Rs270m on ‘Viagra-man’ Qasmi shows the Sharifs’ typical style of governance

(Pak Destiny) The case of awarding millions of rupees to former PTV chairman Attaul Haq Qasmi is a case to understand the psyche of the Sharifs who award millions of rupees to its touts and cromies through state institutions or different government contracts.

The Supreme Court (SC) yesterday was literally surprised to know that just in two-year tenure/contract with PTV Qasmi is given more than Rs270 million in salary and other perks.

The ‘Viagra-man’ is awarded so heavily that even the SC could not believe this. This is the most unfortunate state of affairs in the country being run by the puppets of the Sharifs. The tariqwa-e-wardat is simple for the Sharif’s cronies and this is best depicted by Qasmi.

Former information minister and right-hand man of Nawaz Sharif, Pervaiz Rashid has been summoned to explain for showering whooping money on Qasmi.

Before him there was Mohammad Malick who was also a certified tout of Shahbaz Sharif and he also made millions in salary and perks being PTV MD. It is a big shame that such squanderers get scot free at the end of the day. The SC  should also bring Malick to accountable for the easy money he made being PTV MD.

Former information minister and right-hand man of Nawaz Sharif, Pervaiz Rashid has been summoned to explain for showering whooping money on Qasmi.

Pervaiz Rashid summoned by SC to explain reasons for awarding whooping sum of amount to Qasmi

SC Hearing: The SC was informed that Information Secretary Sardar Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera, who was appointed as acting MD, said PTV allocated more than Rs270 million to Qasmi in the form of compensation and other employee benefits, as well as advertisement funds, over his two-year term. This figure was confirmed by the information secretary, who was present in the court.

According to Sukhera, Qasmi received at least Rs 2.7 million every month in salary and other benefits. The former chairman was also allocated an advertising budget for a programme he used to host on PTV, he told the court.

The large amount of compensation Qasmi allegedly received during his time at PTV caught the eye of Justice Nisar, who observed that the former chairman incurred at least Rs10 million in expenses for the state-run broadcaster each month.

“Pakistan is a poor country and this money belongs to taxpayers. How can it be distributed like this?” the chief justice asked. He also questioned the grounds on which Qasmi was appointed as chairman of the company.

The CJP said that he may summon Sharif with regards to his role in the appointment. Formal summons were sent to Qasmi, the prime minister’s principal secretary Fawad Hasan, the secretary of the establishment and the former additional information secretary.

This is the way the Sharifs appoint their cronies on every top post to loot this poor country. – Pak Destiny
