(Pak Destiny) PML-Q top leader Moonis Elahi does not see the Nawaz government is out of trouble even after Imran Khan’s decision to call off Nov 2 lockdown of Islamabad.

Although neither the PTI nor PML-Q workers are happy with Khan’s ‘U-turn’ but Mr Moonis thinks the premier is not out of the woods yet. “Dawn security leaks issue is still there and it seems the government is trying its best to put it under the carpet,” Moonis said.

Former information minister Pervaiz Rashid has already lost his job in the wake of security leaks. Dawn’s reporter Cyril Almeida had reported the national security meeting ‘Civilians tell military – act against militants or face international isolation’ in Dawn’s Oct 6 edition. Since the government and military have declared the story was against the ‘national interest’ Cyril left for the United States while government’s investigation as who had leaked the sensitive information to Dawn is ‘inconclusive’. It is being said that more heads will be rolled in this scandal in coming days.

Moonis Elahi further cautioned the government to read into severity of the situation and do ‘what’s needed’ with regard to security scam before it gets too late.

“N-League government seems to be left with one option — either take action against those involved in security leak or be ready to face the music. Other tactics will not help it cling to the power,” he said.

“It is hard to understand as why the government is taking so long to conclude investigation into security leaks story"

Talking to Dawn Moonis Elahi wondered how could the government be unaware of the person behind the security leaks. “It is hard to understand as why the government is taking so long to conclude investigation into security leaks story. At the same time the extreme measures to stop the opposition workers from reaching Islamabad are not working and the government is doing no service to democracy by doing so,” he said.

GOVERNMENT’s TACTICS : Before the PTI capital lock-down enters its decisive phase the N-League government tried to prevent PML-Q from participating in it.

Islamabad police was ordered to book Moonis Elahi for allegedly sending a truckload of sticks and party flags for Nov 2 protest to force the Chaudhrys of Gujrat to part their ways from Imran Khan.
Some PML-Q leaders are of the view that the N-League targets Moonis Elahi, son of former deputy prime minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, whenever it has to settle some score with the party. In the past too, the PML-N hawks had framed Mr Moonis in fake cases like NICL but he was honorably acquitted from the court. – Pas Destiny
