Lahore, April 30 (pakdestiny.com) Will anyone tell us as why Pakistani actresses working here and across the border are targeted when they are found indulging in ‘immoral’ activities. Why we are tend to spare our male actors. Singer-cum actor Ali Zafar is a case in point.
Our rock star kisses an indian girl and make love scenes with her and no one including our media bothered to questions him. Rather it is a perceived understanding that ‘men have inborn right to be immoral’.
Nobody has questioned Ali Zafar’s bold scenes in his flick “London Paris New York.” No Mullah has come out and issued a ‘fatwa’ against him’. Isn’t it surprising? When it comes to Veena Malik or Meera daggers are drawn for their obscene and bold shoots and for their affairs with Muslim and non-Muslim boyfriends.
How ironic it is when girls expose themselves they are called ‘characterless’.
What Meera and Veena did in our neighbour country is a shameful act for our society but Ali Zafar’s one is something we are taking pride in?
If Muslim women have no right to expose their body, who gave such rights to males like ‘Ali Zafar’ whose latest photo shoot is also obscene by any standard.
When Veena is seen sleeping in same blankets with an Indian guy (Ashmit) but when Zafar did the same ‘it is not objectionable’.
Why our society forgets the fact that not only women are responsible to maintain the image and dignity of our country, males are equally responsible too. It shows we are male chauvanistic society, isn’t it. But not to forget if our religion has some restrictions for females it equally applies to males as well.
The poor Zafar these days is also being targeted by Indian media for luring Indian heart throb Katrina Kaif. Even he is bullied by Salu Bhai for his attempt to hit a jackpot. Interestingly our media did not cover it which often does not miss such chance if our female features in such a case.
Very good point Sadia, can’t disagree on this.
Reflects the double standards of our society.
The answer is very simple and not a secret. Our Muslim mullahs have taken upon themselves to keep our sisters and daughters pious and only way to keep them on track is to watch them and their activities. They also believe that Allah created woman for man’s pleasure. He can say talaq, talaq, talaq to his wife and kick her out. Woman cannot ask (in practice) for separation even if she were constantly abused by her husband.

Agreed. Both genders should be judged on the same standards.
very true.
Dear Sister
the problem is that the conventional educated people don’t bother getting Islamic education. so we are enslaved by them. they can interpret the Quran and Hadith the way they want and we cant do anything about it cuz we dont bother to learn. Quran for us is to be used on weddings at the time for the “Rukhsati”, at the birth of our child and for “Sawaab” for our dead.
or our women, and Hadith. we dont even know what bird is that. so the nation as a whole is suffering because we have different educational systems for different classes. the people who can afford 10,000 a month, there is different education for them, and they ones who cant afford anything, we have madrassas off course. so untill the time we realize the importance of Islamic education in our conventional schools, we’ll have to suffer from these double standards. from the Religious and Secular Mullahs.
Sadia shah I agree with you what u say for ali zafar but 2 wrongs dose not make right
To day modern women fighting for their recognation as human not sex
simbol or commidity
I support women right to deal as human not their sexulity. I don’t
know for a woman exposing the body mean modran or achive some mile
stone political, education or any other male dominated field mean
modran kindly help me.
Islam, halal/haram/ moral and immoral is such a facade that many
champions of religion invoke in their discourse; often our countrymen
look for halal food but wouldnt spare W if offered, wouldnt budge
from fraud/cheating at others’ cost. This is a naked, bitter reality
the way the guardians of religion conduct themselves at home and
abroad. Morality and halal and the distinction between halal and haram
extends only to food. The rest is usually all fine – regardless of
gender, and regardless of whether mehram or non-mehram! Let us face it
The only plausible reason behind these double standards is that the molvis having hots on Ali Zafar are more liberal than those having hots on Veena Malik.

I don’t understan imtaiz gul anger this is fourm to express some one
belif and values don’t he belive on human values don’t he belive women
treated as human not as sex simbol or worker
Raja Jee, please open your mind to understand the message. I am
questioning the munfaqat /hypocricy of people , and not the belief. I
have no right to question anybody’s belief. We must respect and
tolerate others’ beliefs. regards
Respected Brothers, ASA
It is so because Muslims have rendered Islam into a religion as Jews and Christians have rendered their “Islam” into a religion. All the Abrahamic faiths are sailing on the same boat unless they take Islam as a Al-Deen:and struggle hard for its establishment on self, in families and in the society in which they live as a whole.
It is incumbent upon each Muslim and Muslimah. If they do not do that, they will have more disgraceful life on earth and will face the worst scenario in Akhirah.
May Allah give Tawfeeq to all of us and especially our leadership to live, act and behave like that.
Imtaiz sab I am worried about my socity we become extrimest
libertal, religious, ethnic I finde dificult to finde the middle ground
where I can stand
I am aganist religious and liberal extrimist both are fighting on middle ground
Gul sab kindly guide me what to do
Salaam — let us NOT blame Maddarissa and Mullas as they are the only one keeping religion alive at present without any financial burden on state / tax payers and hence better than Zero .We can comment on such incidents with our personal wisdom which is of course generally without guidance available from Quran & Sunnah being essential elements of being Muslims .Iqbal A. Dear Raja Jee, I understand your viewpoint but don’t understand how can u call it liberal fascism? Am just pointing out munafqat among many, how can u call it liberal fscism?
Well I think it is because people in Pakistan have still to treat men and women as same. For instance you will hear parents announcing how many girl friends their son has but have yet to accept that their daughter has a boyfriend as well. So it is with everyone let’s hope the enlightened become brave enough to accept and announce their daughters boyfriends then such disparity will end.
Cheers
Whats wrong with u people, what is available here in Pakistan 4 them,
at least they can work out there to find something better for the rest
of thier life, and its our great success from now on that actors will
perform without ISI tattoo 😉
Well done Sadia! Thanks for showing the mirror to hypocrites of our society.
I think we must show dignity in our actions without harming our
national sanctity. We must promote image of Pakistan.
Let’s talk about what happens in Pakistani movies. Are we not spreading
vulgarity through our LOLLYWOOD movies? Just re-fresh your memories and
watch our PUNJABI and PUSHTO movies. Are we promoting our culture or
vulgarity?
Regards
Dear Sadia,
Thanks for your critique. I think instead of blaming it on the mullah and the madrassah for everything lets do our bit and everyone who sees this as double standards put it right…. by giving our children the same rights at home and treating women around us without discrimination…. and things will begin to improve. Lets not wait for things to change without changing ourselves.

It is a great mistake to judge a society by the face it presents to you. It actually takes all sorts of people to make a society. Unfortunately ours and many a other are male dominated and chauvinistic societies. That is like a great disaster. In such societies women have been dis-enfranchised and hence their national progress shows, just like ours.
Sadia has correctly pointed out a great traversty of our judgement, where women being weak are targeted for all kinds of bully sermonising and men are totally spared of any such thing, where as who does not know the gay lords and or its victims of our country and or the harm they do to our women and children.
How can they get away with just about everything they do. The way i see it, we are a free country and have all sorts of people living here, atleast, I love our diversity. From our extreme right to left wingers, middle of the roaders (majority)and the little to the left or right, Hallalies and haramies, the good, bad and down right ugly all are part of our package.
Having said that, the ones most cared less about are our women folk and children. Somehow, somewhere we as men have stopped due to the enormous pressure of being forgotten all about them and kind of just “let it be”. And this let it be has taken a great toll, we find scores of under nourished, maltreated, uneducated children, women denied of their basic rights. It is such a shame. Maybe in our life times, things do not seem like changing but all we can hope is that maybe the next generation will not repeat the mistakes we are allowing to “let it be”.
Well I believe Ali Zafar has gone ahead of Veena Malik but who will
bother to criticize a male in a still-male dominated society (though
not by numbers)
regards
zahir
I agree with the contents of the message given by Ms. Sadia Shah.
However, we need to understand why it happens so. It is our hypocrisy
that we expect our women to be pious but men can do anything. Sin is a
sin, whether men commit it or a woman does so.
then next comes the role of the media. In fact, this is media which
first highlight an issue which leads to hue and cry. Lot of people do
not know things if media does not repeatedly highlight an issue. The
same is the case with Veena’s issue. Lot of people did not know what
she had done. Once Media highlighted, people including religious
community started criticizing it.
In case of Ali Zafar, if he has done something immoral – though it is
debatable for many people as what is moral or immoral, media did not
highlight anything as such. I didn’t hear on any TV channel that he
did something objectionable. So, why the people would make hue and
cry. Just ask the media to highlight it and then see the reaction.
I agree with respected Imtiza sahab that there is hypocrisy in our
soceiety but it does not mean that each and every person is ready to
drink W, or would enjoy any other W immorally. there are lot of people
are pious in each and every respect and we should respect them.
More importantly, the role of media needs to be discussed again. If
Veena does something wrong it is objectionable. but when our tv
channel telecast such programs directly, is it not morally wrong?
