(Pak Destiny) The caretaker government has admitted its mistake of removing Asma Hamid as Advocate General by withdrawing its earlier notification removing her from the post and instead accepting her resignation.

The is the result of a petition by members of the Lahore High Court Bar Association and Punjab Bar Council who challenged her illegal removal.

The Lahore High Court ensured justice for the former Advocate General by directing the respondents that it would be better if they found an amicable solution.

Ms Hamid was the first Pakistani woman who was appointed the AGP.

Hassan Iqbal Warraich, Secretary LHCBA, the petitioner, said that Asma Hamid facilitated the matter with her categorical stance that she did not wish to serve as Chief Law Officer to a temporary caretaker set up that had seen it fit to remove her without notice.

She had therefore chosen to resign in the event the earlier illegal notification was withdrawn. Dr. Parvez Hassan and his associates ably represented proforma respondent Asma Hamid in Court.

Ms Hamid was the first Pakistani woman who was appointed the AGP. The caretaker government should not have made the decision of her removal in haste as it didn’t bring a good name to the country. |PakDestiny
