Child abuse on the rise in Pakistan, government should wake up to its responsibility

By Wajeeha Nasir

It is one of the shameful facts the like many of the other countries – Pakistan is also facing the challenges of child abuse, sexual violence, harassment etc.

Here where the forces of poverty and illiteracy combine, a lot is swept under the carpet but then there are times when the problem raises their ugly heads. Mafia is using poor kids as a labor. In towns and cities across Pakistan, tens of thousands of vulnerable young boys and girls have become the victims of pedophile predators who seem to have nothing to fear from the law. It’s an open secret that a few acknowledge publicly and even fewer want to do anything about.

In one survey alone, 95% of truck drivers, traffic police wardens and street beggars admitted having sex with innocent young boys and girls is their favorite entertainment. At the main bus terminal in Main Areas of the city, a makeshift hostel for drivers passing through is set up every evening with around twenty by boys, and some by both.

When a poor kid is wandering the streets alone, they lure him by telling him we’ll give him some food and a place to stay. Then, they pass them on to the drivers. In return, for a pittance the men can have sex with as many boys as they desire

In our society, where women are hidden from the view and young girls deemed untouchable, the bus stations, truck stops and alleyways have become the hunting ground for perverted men to prey on the innocent. It’s one of the most sad and shame aspects of our society.

Aim is to empower people to explore their world because many of us have suffered at the hands of ignorance and so many continue to suffer. Let us pledge to take the first step to fight the silence surrounding child abuse. Prevention is equated with sex education, which absolutely is not our adults need to strategies that how to equip children with empowerment by teaching them properly.

Child abuse is global issue.it has raised global concern .The point that needs stress over here is to make the organization as effective as it is possible. If today’s children are not secure we should at least aim to create a better future for the coming generation. Pakistan should find solutions to this grave problem in collaboration with the world nations. Analysts argue that the global community does not trust Pakistan because of its protracted crisis of bad governance, rampant corruption and lack of transparency. So, Pakistan should end corruption and bring on transparency at the earliest to seek global coordination. It’s the responsibility of every nation to come together to address this challenge and create a prosperous community free from child abuse. Pak Destiny
