By Sidra Kausary (Pakdestiny.com) Pakistan has a large online population and recently the issue of online frauds got very much highlighted. After much struggle of civil society and activists, the draft of Cyber Crime Bill came on the surface but now FIA has also come into action against such fraudulent people.

Recently the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cyber crime branch has arrested an accused of cheating people through a fake ID of a girl on Facebook.

According to sources, FIA cyber crime branch took action on the plea of girl’s father and arrested accused Abdul Haseeb.

The accused is an employee of a private bank. The sources said the accused was also involved in cheating people via sale/purchase website.

Abdul Haseeb is the second imposter arrested for blackmailing people on social media. This is not the only case but latest by this month, this is the second man who is arrested, as FIA also arrested a man from Karachi for harassing women.

While in October of previous year FIA also arrested three men for blackmailing women on social media. Now it seems that the need for Cyber Crime Bill is increasing more. As once the crime is proven, only the bill could be helpful for giving the right punishment to the fraudulent. -Pakdestiny
