As incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s son, Kasim Khan, expressed his admiration for his father’s stand against corruption, PTI senior leader Moonis Elahi took a dig at Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, criticizing her for what he called a “name obsession.” Elahi urged her to take inspiration from the legacy of Sir Ganga Ram.
Our father lived in Pakistan – away from us – for most of our lives. Not because he had to, but because he chose to stand up against a corrupt regime. While he wasn’t there every day as a father, Pakistan had him as a leader. He gave his country everything: hospitals,… pic.twitter.com/sREebVpnAu

“If Sir Ganga Ram had wished, landmarks like the Lahore Museum, NCA, Aitchison College, Hailey College, Lahore College for Women University, Model Town, and countless other developments could have been named after him,” Moonis Elahi wrote in a post on X. “But great people are remembered for their great deeds — not by renaming already established institutions and projects after themselves, like #MadamThiefMinister.”

Meanwhile, in a heartfelt message on X, Kasim Khan reflected on his father’s absence during much of his and his brother’s upbringing.
“Our father lived in Pakistan—away from us—for most of our lives. Not because he had to, but because he chose to stand up against a corrupt regime. While he wasn’t there every day as a father, Pakistan had him as a leader. He gave his country everything: hospitals, universities, and a movement for justice,” Kasim wrote.
She will not give funds for the development of Gujrat division but has approved 100 million for a 4 kanal park because it’s named after her. #MadamThiefMinister recently said that she doesn’t like people who show off. pic.twitter.com/kHE6FYkcGD

He further revealed that Imran Khan has been offered the chance to spend his remaining years in peace—walking or playing cricket with his sons in England—but he continues to choose imprisonment.
“His sacrifice is for Pakistan. His strength comes from its people,” he added.
The PTI has announced the launch of its Free Imran Khan movement on August 5, a campaign that has reportedly unsettled the “puppet” government of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to party sources.
