Jailed former prime minister Imran Khan’s party is wary of the health of their supreme leader.
Khan is being given “substandard food” in jail on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, leading to deterioration in his health and demanded his immediate medical checkup, says PTI.
Monday marks a year since the 71-year-old former cricketer-turned-politician’s arrest by the National Accountability Bureau graft case.
“Imran Khan had said he was being given substandard food in jail which is causing him to feel unwell. All of this is happening on the orders of Maryam Nawaz,” PTI senior leader Moonis Elahi wrote on X on Monday.
The former federal minister said only the ruling PMLN could stoop so low in Khan’s case.
“Imran Khan braved the imprisonment of a year for the rights of the people of Pakistan. We salute Mr Khan’s steadfastness, courage and bravery. We demand his immediate release in all fake cases against him,” Moonis Elahi, the former federal minister, demanded.
“Extremely worrying news. Imran Khan told reporters that due to the intense heat and there being no refrigerator his food goes off even before it’s cooked. Which has led to him getting food poisoning. Inadequate measures being taken to him safe and healthy. This is a matter of serious concern. And should be raised by all,” another PTI leader Zulfi Bokhari said.
The PTI also held a huge rally in Swabi and paid tributes to Khan and condemned the fascist government to crush the PTI. PAK DESTINY
