Islamabad (Pak Destiny) Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is reluctant to replace MQM’s Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad because he is afraid of its backlash.
The long serving Ibad has lost moral authority to continue after MQM worker Sulat Mirza’s allegations that the Sindh Governor provides protection to criminals of the MQM. Ibad however denied the allegations.
Neither PPP nor PML-N successive governments could remove Ibad from this post although it is the prerogative of the federal government to appoint its nominee in the province. The PML-N has its nominees in Punjab, KPK and Balochistan but it does not touch the ‘untouchable Sindh’ because of MQM factor.
Sources said PM Sharif is afraid of removing Ibad as he thinks his government will not be able to handle the MQM backlash. “The PM wants Rangers to take the bull on and he remains sitting at the prime minister house to watch the development,” the sources said. – Pak Destiny
