Islamabad (Pak Destiny) While police in Islamabad late on Saturday night pounced on the supporters of Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri injuring over 100, the anchors of different private TV channels showing their inclination in the coverage of the gory incident.
Imran Khan’s claim that the Nawaz-government had distributed Rs250 crore among different media house owners and some anchors. Seeing the last few days and today’s coverage, it appears obvious who is with who’s side.
For example, despite the torture of Dawn’s reporter and cameramen at the hands of police in Islamabad today, its anchor Mehr Bokhari openly put the blame of police shelling and torture on Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan, showing she could go to any extend to safeguard the PML-N government’s interest and its functionaries. It is a big shame for Mehr and it appears that she is one of the major beneficiaries of Rs250 crore. The other suspected beneficiaries are Talat Husain, Mujeebur Rehman Shami, Nusrat Javed, Javed Chaudhry, Shahzeb khanzada, Mushtaq Minhas, Beenish Salim who are openly supporting the PML-N and chiding Khan and Qadri.
Interestingly, Express TV owner Sultan Lakhani fired three anchors – Moaeed Pirzada, Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry – on the request of the PML-N government for propagating against the government in the crisis. Fawad Chaudhry blamed Information Minister Pervez Rashid for their exist.
Talat Husain appears to be the major casualty in the process. Talat was known for his balanced viewpoint. But it seems he is one of the major beneficiaries after he ruthlessly started ‘abusing’ the PTI and PAT leadership. Many of his viewers are surprised what has gone wrong with him. “Talat has become a mouth piece of the PML-N. Its a shame that the media lost a rational voice,” one of his readers said.
Since the whole Geo/Jang group is already with Sharif brothers there is no question of spending more money on it. – Pak Destiny
