Will Ramiz Raja clear the mess of Ehsan Mani and remove 'virus' from Pakistan cricket?

By Raza Ruman

Ramiz Raja is the new chief of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
People in the cricket fraternity is hailing the decision for at least the nation got rid of the most incompetent Ehsan Mani under his stint Pakistan cricket suffered badly especially the club and departmental cricket.
More loyal than a king was a a kind of stuff Mani was. He literally ruined club cricket in his three years and Pakistani youth is cursing him for that.
Now all eyes on Raja whether he being a big sycophant of Imran Khan will manage to clear the mess Mani created.

It was during Mr Mani’s term that a number of international teams toured the country and the domestic cricket structure was revamped, his tenure will largely be remembered by the national team’s inconsistent performances.
The board’s decision-making also floundered at times — for instance, giving Misbah-ul-Haq three top posts with the national team until eventually leaving him with just that of head coach. The chopping and changing has translated into poor performances on the pitch, including, remarkably, losing an ODI series to England’s third-string side recently and only drawing this month’s Test series in the West Indies.

Although Ramiz Raja said his aim was to reset Pakistan cricket’s GPS but only time will tell whether he addresses the structural problems of Pakistan cricket.

He needs to enhance the budget of the club cricket so that por youth playing at club level get monthly healthy stipend helping them to focus on the game.

Being part of Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup winning team under Imran Khan means Raja shouldn’t have difficulties in implementing his ideas once he’s formally elected next month. He has in the past also engaged in a war of words on social and other media with several cricketers who might be part of the national team at the upcoming T20 World Cup as well as some officials in the national cricketing set-up…. Mohammad Hafeez is one of them and it will be seen whether he allows him to take part in T20 cup in UAE in October this year.

On the other hand will Raja removes ‘virus’ of match and spot fixing from Pakistan cricket. He had openly castigated former PCB chairman Najam Sethi for including match fixers Mohammad Amir and others in the national team. Will Raja show them to door? PAK DESTINY
