Islamabad, July 6 (Pak Destiny) After Hamid Mir’s departure for London ‘for good’, his brother Amer Mir also is going to be shifted to Canada along with his family.
On last Friday Geo anchor Hamid Mir, who was seriously injured in an assassination bid in Karachi in April, finally shifted to London along with his family.
A friend of Mir family told Pak Destiny that Amer Mir, who was an investigative reporter in The News, is shifting along with his wife and children to Canada. Both brothers had differences before the attack on Hamid.
“Hamid Mir chose London his future destination as his son is studying there. Amer thinks Canada is more safer that the United Kingdom,” his friend said. Both brothers had enormous pressure from their families to leave Pakistan for their safety.
After the ‘permanent’ departure of the Mir brothers for abroad it seems their journalism carrier may be over with leaving Pakistan. However, Hamid is persistent to do his talk show on Geo once he gets well.
Hamid along with his wife and daughter left for London by PIA flight PK613 on Friday morning. His son Yasir Arafat is already in London for educational purposes. Mir will consult doctors for medical treatment.
Apparently it is sad end of the Mir brothers who dominated the Pakistani media scene for quite sometime. -Pak Ddestiny
