(Pakdestiny) As the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) issued a notice to Dunya TV talk show – Tonight with Moeed Pirzada – in which abusive language was used, Pirzada taunted Pemra with his tweets to show his anger.
On June 10 programme – Tonight with Moeed Pirzada – Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed used abusive language about Railways Minister Khawaja Asif.
Taking prompt notice of it, the Pemra issued a show cause notice to Dunya TV and gave it June 19 to explain its position “as to why this programme should not be shut down or a fine of Rs1 million be slapped on it”.
Pemra also told Dunya TV owner Mian Amer Mahmood a similar offence committed by Royal TV had led to the closure of that channel for 19 days.
On Royal TV, analyst Ibrahim Mughal had used abusive language about anchor Mubashir Lucman. He even went on saying that Lucman’s DNA needed to be checked to verify his father.
Moeed Pirzada who earlier accused of getting thumb impression of his father forcefully on a plain paper from a hospital bed in UAE and was briefly arrested said in tweets:
“#PEMRA NoticeToDunyaNews? I am not doing program these days; will find out details; However PEMRA is trying to Exert Control for Pol Reasons. Why PEMRA issued Notice to my program at DunyaNews? I am travelling, no idea, will find out, apparently because some guest uttered abuse.”
Interestingly Moeed has yet to clarify his position over ‘thumb impression episode’. Mian Amer Mahmood also never minded in hiring Moeed without seeking any clarification over the issue. — Pak Destiny
