Lahore, Jan 30 (Pak Destiny) The Punjab government’s machinery is out to save its blue-eyed Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Mujahid Kamran in the PML-N ‘all time favourite’ Sumaira Malik fake degree case.
A sessions court had directed the Anti-Corruption Establishment, Punjab, to investigate the allegations against Punjab University authorities including the VC for their alleged role in issuing a fake graduation degree and its subsequent verification to former MNA Sumaira Malik.
A professor of chemistry department, Dr Zahid Mahmood, filed a petition seeking directions for ACE to take action against the PU vice chancellor and others involved in issuing the degree.
Petitioner’s counsel Aftab Bajwa told the court an inquiry held by FIA had stated Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran and Controller Examination Dr Liaquat had issued the degree to the former parliamentarian. He said the agency, however, took no action citing the matter did not fall in its domain.
The counsel said the petitioner had filed an application with the ACE but no action had been taken.
Sources told Pak Destiny that some influential ministers and parliamentarians of the PML-N are supporting Mujahid Kamran and would save him at the end of the day as they did in the past. Mujahid was also accused of sexually harassing a female lecturer of the PU Law College but he got away with this with the help of his buddies in the Punjab government.
Both sisters – Sumaira Malik and Ayla Malik – had got fake graduation degrees to contest the elections. Both had done their intermediate from dubious Russian Institutions. Lets see if in the coming days the PU officials are being investigated to awarding fake BA degree to Ayla Malik. – Pak Destiny
