Islamabad, Dec 26 (www.pakdestiny.com) PPP bigwigs – Rehman Malik, Farooq H Naek and Nazar Gondal and Manzoor Wattoo – have blocked former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s move to grab his party’s top office.
Sources in the ruling PPP informed that Gilani had started lobbying with President Asif Zardari to consider the ‘best choice’ for the co-chairman office in case he decides to quit in line with the court’s order.
“However, the above four gentlemen of the PPP stalled Gilani’s move and convinced Zardari not to handover his party office to him. Now Zardari is not going to announce doffing off the cap of the co-chairman on his Dec 27 address at Ghari Khuda Bakhsh,” the highly reliable source said.
The Lahore high court is hearing a petition seeking action against Zardari under the contempt of court law for failing to act on an order that expected him to give up the post of chief of the PPP. – PakDestiny
