Reversal of fortune: Nawaz’s sons today paying for his deeds – 7-year ago he implicated Pervaiz Elahi’s son Moonis

(Pak Destiny) One may call it maqafaat-e-amal (reversal of fortune) for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for many accounts in Panama Papers scandal. But when one sees Hussain Nawaz, Nawaz Sharif’s elder son, crying for being grilled by the Joint Investigation Team for his alleged illegal off shore holdings in London one recalls how Sharif got his rival Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s son Moonis Elahi implicated in a false case in 2010. It is a dramatic turn of reversal of fortune, isn’t it.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi then had warned the Sharifs of not settling political scores by involving children. But the Sharifs went ahead with their plan and maneuvered things and used their ‘puppet’ chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry in framing Moonis in NICL case. However, Moonis after going through several months’ hardship of the trial got acquitted by the district and sessions’ court as nothing was established against him despite the PML-N and its cronies’ best efforts to keep him behind the bar.

But who could say seven years later Nawaz Sharif will be fretting over as how to save his sons – Hussain and Hasan – from his wrong deeds (money laundering and making multi-billion dollars flats in London). His elder son (Hussain) is literally crying for being ‘detained’ for several hours on every investigation by the JIT on Panama probe. Next in line is Hasan Nawaz who also arrived here from London to face JIT and is very tense. Both Hussain and Hasan are looking up to their father to save them from ‘grilling’ of JIT and any punitive action against them.

One witnesses ‘reversal of fortune’ (maqafaat-e-amal) in the Sharif’s case. Sharif yesterday implicating the son of his opponent in a false case today his own sons are suffering. You reap what you sow.

More interestingly you see how the Sharif family is again accused of planning to target the children of JIT members and the judges of the Supreme Court after getting frustrated over Panama probe.

It is being said that the Sharifs has given this message to the judges and JIT members through their party Senator Nehal Hashmi. “Those grilling Nawaz Sharif and his sons we want to tell them (SC judges and JIT members) that we will make your life hell. You are making the life of the prime minister difficult. The Pakistani nation will make it difficult for you and your children to live after your retirement,” Hashmi said.

Why you involve children… Even the SC judges asked the attorney general of the PML-N government when it summoned Nehal Hashmi to explain about the threats to judges he hurled on whose behalf.

“Congratulations Mr Attorney General: it seems that your government has joined the Sicilian Mafia,” Justice Sheikh Azmat remarked on Thursday. “We have faced military dictatorships, but even they did not dare threaten our children. Our children are being threatened under your government,” another member of the SC bench Justice Afzal remarked.

But it is the habit of the Sharifs that they involve the children of their opponents in their fight. – Pak Destiny
