Twitter on Friday exploded with “jusrice for FIA officer Asif Iqbal” and “sack Shireen Mizari” in connection with his sacking. FIA Assistant Director cybercrime wing Lahore Asif Iqbal who registered an FIR against singer Meesha Shafi and eight others for their alleged involvement in a smear campaign against singer-actor Ali Zafar was suspended from the service on the basis of a tweet he made to explain Section 20 of the Prevention of Electronic Media Crimes Act 2016, related to the case against Ms Shafi and others.

“Apparently 1 of the ministers involved in getting @AsifIqbalccw suspended. The only competent officer. remember child pornography only conviction even in Pakistan was under his supervision. #JusticeForAsifIqbal -every1 tag @cybercrimefia -meesha shafi mindset can’t pressurise FIA” says Hassan Niazi, nephew of PM Imran Khan.

Amnah Jabin said: “So @AsifIqbalccw got suspended just b/c Ms @ImaanZHazir thinks that he was siding @AliZafarsays while he was only doing his duty. He always gives awareness on cyber crime & now it became his crime.What a curse we have in the form of Minister @ShireenMazari1 JusticeforAsifIqbal”.

Mir Khan says: “What is this ridiculous step of removing @AsifIqbalccw from his post. An honest efficient officer of the FIA who is educating the nation day & night against the crooks of the cyber world is removed. Why ?
@ImranKhanPTI please look into this.”

Another twitter user says: “Asif Iqbal of #FIA Cyber Crime Wing is an upright officer who is passionately working against cyber crimes. He must be reinstated. JusticeforAsifIqbal.”

On Monday last, Ms Shafi, actor-host Iffat Omar, Leena Ghani, Fariha Ayub, Maham Javaid, Ali Gul, Haseemuz Zaman Khan, Humna Raza and Syed Faizan Raza were booked under section 20 (1) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and R/W 109-PPC.

Mr Iqbal’s tweet reads, “Whoever publicly exhibits false information that harms the reputation of a person, is [committing] a crime U/S 20 of Cybercrime Act.”

Another social media user says: “Assistant Director Cybercrime Wing FIA Asif Iqbal Chaudhary SUSPENDED for registering case against Actress Meesha Shafi.

This is what happens when you try to do work honestly in this country.”
Let’s see those influential people who got Iqbal sacked are taken to task by Imran Khan’s ‘honest’ government or let an honest officer be crushed under the system of status quo. PAK DESTINY
