Finally the cat is out of the bag. Now after revelations of former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Khalid Mahmood that had Attaur Rehman not withdrawn his statement last minute Wasim Akram might have been banned for lifetime for match fixing.

“Fast bowler Attaur Rehman in his statement had revealed that Wasim Akram had offered him money to under perform. But he withdrew his statement last minute before the court therefore Akram managed to save his skin otherwise he would have been banned for fixing,” Khalid Mahmood said in a video message.

Mahmood also revealed that at least three matches of World Cup 1999 under Wasim Akram captaincy were doubtful (fixed) including that of Bangladesh and India matches. Akram refused o comment on this monumental revelation.

A known notorious character in fixing is Saleem Malik. Malik was part of all three dubious match in World Cup 1999. He can tell how he and others under Akram under performed and lost those three matches.

This notorious character after 20 years have tendered apology for his crime and sought ban imposed by PCB lifted.

One should ask him will he tell Akram and company’s role when he was selling the country’s honour in 1990s. He and others shamelessly fixed matches in 1999 World Cup matches especially against India and Bangladesh.

PCB on the other hand does not take any shame in hobnouring the upected fixer Wasim Akram in so many ways. (Pak Destiny)
