EVM or No EVM -- Local polls in Punjab may not be held because of this thorny issue -- PTI can't afford defeat

Local government polls in Punjab on Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) or no EVM… This a question everyone is looking for answer.

Can PTI government afford local polls in Punjab province without EVM? Perhaps Not!

The PTI government and opposition in the Punjab Assembly have header towards deadlock over the use of EVMs in the local government election as both are not willing to budge from their stance.

The PTI Punjab government has proposed that the ECP hold LG elections in two phases — the first on May 15 and second phase in June.

The Punjab Assembly Standing Committee is currently having deliberations on the Punjab Local Government Ordinance 2021. The government may table the bill in the ongoing session of the Punjab Assembly whether it reaches a consensus with the opposition or not on various clauses (of the bill).

It seems obvious that this matter if using EVM in local polls will go in the court and perhaps there will be no local election in coming months because of ping pong being played on EVM.

The PTI knows it has to skip local government election and for that purpose it will use every tactics. PAK DESTINY
