PMLQ senior leader MNA Moonis Elahi whose party is an ally of the PTI government has questioned the ongoing infighting in the Punjab police throwing a caution if this persists who will take care of law and order.

In a latest tweet Mr Moonis reminded the Punjab police to focus on its performance instead of indulging in petty fights to grab positions.
This is perhaps the need of the hour for the Punjab police to pay full attention to improve law and order in Punjab.

The terrible incident that of a woman gang-rape on motorway has jolted the whole nation demanding justice for her and her children as well for resignation of Lahore chief Umer Sheikh who is posted on the recommendation of Shahzad Akbar.

Moonis Elahi has demanded justice for the victim family and exemplary punishment for culprits. “Police should have arrested culprits by now,” he demanded.

Earlier the Punjab police was indulged in infighting and as a result the fifth IGP of Punjab Shoiab Dastgir was changed.

Former Dawn editor Abbas Nasir also took on the Punjab police. He tweeted: “Poor @ShazadAkbar had interviewed and brought in the CCPO to tighten the screws on PMLN workers but the misogynist buffoon put his foot in it. Now the adviser has to defend his pick. Some journey from pleading Code Pink (and Pasha’s?) case.”

Dawn Islamabad Editor Fahd Hussain said: “Police reforms should have been the prime priority of this PTI government but it seems that power is.”

Government needs to wake up to its basic responsibility –protecting life and property of the people. PAK DESTINY
