As by-polls 2018 are being held on Sunday on eight National Assembly seats in Punjab there has been a competition only on five constituencies.

A survey to these constituencies – Lahore’s NA-124 and NA-131, Rawalpindi’s NA-60 and NA-63, Chakwal (NA-65), Gujrat (NA-69), Faisalabad (NA-103) and Attock’s NA-56 — shows there has been no competition against three candidates – former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on NA-124 Lahore and scion of the Chaudhrys of Gujrat, Moonis Elahi on NA-69 Gujrat and Salik Hussain, on NA-65, Chakwal. They are expected to win their seats with a huge margin, says the survey carried out by a reputed NGO.

Mr Moonis is up against PML-N’s turncoat Imran Zafar while Salik enjoys even the support of the PML-N candidate Faiz Tuman who has withdrawn his nomination paper in his favour.

Moonis Elahi tipped as a federal minister

Mr Moonis already enjoys a phenomenal support in the constituency as his father Parvez Elahi had beaten its PML-N opponent in July 25 poll with a big margin.

After winning both seats PML-Q is expected to get one more ministry in the federal government. Moonis is widely being tipped as a federal minister. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on NA-124 Lahore and scion of the Chaudhrys of Gujrat, Moonis Elahi on NA-69 Gujrat and Salik Hussain, on NA-65, Chakwal. They are expected to win their seats with a huge margin, says the survey carried out by a reputed NGO.

Similarly, Mr Abbasi is facing a PTI minnow Dewan Mohyuddin in Lahore. PML-N’s Saad Rafique is up against PTI’s Humayun Akhtar in NA-131 Lahore. Akhtar has reportedly spent a lot of money in the election. It was a close contest in July 25 poll when Rafique lost with a margin of just 600 votes to PTI chairman Imran Khan.

Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid is also supervising the campaign of his nephew Rashid Shafique on NA-60 Rawalpindi who is a PTI candidate. The PML-N has fielded Sajjad Khan against him. Khan is a strong candidate and the Sharif brothers have directed the local leadership to put its all resources to defeat Rashid’s nephew.  The Sharifs have strong grudge against him. Pak Destiny
