The Punjab government on Monday removed another blue-eyed of PMLN president Shahbaz Sharif, Dr Umar Saif from two important posts — chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Information Technology University.

The PTI government has handed over the charge of PTIB to Habibur Rehman, chairman Planning and Development. Dr Saif on his social media account has confirmed the government has shown him the door on both top positions.

“It is the prerogative of the government to appoint anyone they wish … I hope they appoint someone who can take this forward,” Saif said.

A source in PITB told Pak Destiny that Saif is sent home in the wake of special audit conducted regarding apps that PITB had developed and launched. “Dr Saif allegedly built these apps at a very high cost,” he said.

Interestingly, Shahbaz Sharif during his last 10 years in the office of chief minister trusted no one else but Saif in IT projects. There was a lot of resentment in the IT sector against Dr Saif but being a Shahbaz’s man he did not let any one to come forward in this sector.
