What ‘supreme attraction’ Mohsin Naqvi saw in the PCB?

By Irum Saleem

What ‘supreme attraction’ the office of chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) holds that journalists like Najam Sethi and Mohsin Naqvi seek this as a reward fot their services to their masters? A debate ensues.

As Sethi was looking up to PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif to give him again this seat after coming into power in Feb polls, it was grabbed by his fellow journalist Mohsin Naqvi as his ‘connections’ are stronger than Sethi.

On Tuesday Naqvi was elected unopposed as the 37th chairman of the PCB for a three-year term.

The country’s cricket governing body had been without a chairman for the last 13 months with the PCB having been run by two separate interim management committees during that time.

Naqvi’s appointment filled the spot left vacant in the PCB’s Board of Governors by former chief Zaka Ashraf, who stepped down from the post on Jan 19.

Naqvi who run a media house – C24News and C42 network – is keen to do something else than his job as journalist. It seems the media houses are opened to either to protect one’s wealth or get such positions after making ‘right connections’. How come Pakistan will progress when a doctor is doing the job of an engineer, a journalist doing the job of a cricketer and else.
