The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has announced a ‘long march’ on Islamabad on March 23 in a bid to de-seat the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan… really so.
People of Pakistan are facing Manghai (inflation) today and long march of opposition parties against it is in March, some four months later. Is PDM out of its mind or gone crazy. Nope … neither it has gone crazy nor gone out of mind…what Shakespeare had said in Hamlet: “There is a method in his madness.”
So this exactly what PDM is doing. Shehbaz Sharif and company are waiting a signal from the establishment…at the moment no signal has come th big boss. That’s why the PDM protest delayed.
Dawn also taunted PDM saying the message that the PDM seems to be conveying is that it really does not have many options left in its political armoury.
“The government can rest easy. But then, ever since the PDM’s whimpering end to its first campaign earlier in the year, it has hardly given any reason for the government to have sleepless nights. The PDM has struggled with clarity ever since the PPP walked out of it in a huff. The original dilemma that the alliance faced in the early phases continues to haunt it. Resigning from the assemblies is apparently the most potent weapon it wields but that can only work — and that too is an assumption — if the combined opposition were to tender the resignations together.”
Fazlur Rehman and the Sharifs never did politics without the help of the establishment. So how come one expects from them them that these guys could afford to do politics independently.
So PDM at present needs to rest and wait for the signal. PAK DESTINY
