People of Pakistan on the second consecutive days heaped scorn on two owner sisters of “Cannoli by Cafe Soul” Islamabad for mocking it’s manager’s English, making it the most talked about issue on social media.
With thousands of the Twitter users pouring scorn and abuses on Uzma and Dia – owners of Cannoli by Cafe Soul — for the humiliation they pour on its manager Awais, their apology does not seem to be working On Friday “boycottCannoli” was top trend with thousands of tweets bashing both women having deep rooted complex of English language.
The owners of an upscale eatery in Islamabad later have apologised for a video which shows them mocking the manager of their restaurant for his lack of proficiency in English. But the people are in no mood to pardon them as they announced an Urdu Mushaira outside the restaurant with 11,000 registered online.
In the one-minute-and-18-second clip, the women introduce themselves as Uzma and Dia – owners of Cannoli by Cafe Soul. They go on to ask their cafe manager of nine years to introduce himself in English and then laugh as he struggles to speak in a language he is clearly not comfortable with.
In the video, Uzma and Dia reveal that their manager, Awais, has worked with them for nine years. “How many classes have you taken for English?” Dia asks, to which Awais responds that he has studied three English courses over the course of one and a half years.
“So could you please speak to everyone in English?” Uzma asked. The video then shows the two women laughing as Awais speaks in English at their request.
“This is the ‘beautiful’ English he speaks,” says one of them in a mocking tone, while the other adds, “This is what we paid for.”
Criticism has been pouring in from all segments of society. They calling both women even “western bitches” hating their own mother language.

These two ladies #CannoliOwners should have some shame on their insensitivity and inhumane behavior towards their restaurant’s manager – Awais – what a confident man he is who took the humiliation with a smile on his face such a good example of being a gentleman…
