Will PM Khan offer a 'laugh' again after the army's action against its officials in Karachi incident?

Will Prime Minister Imran Khan laugh again after the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that officials of the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, involved in the “Karachi incident” have been removed?

PM Khan had earlier said that on the matter of the alleged kidnapping of IG Sindh over PMLN leader Capt Safdar’s alleged desecration of Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum FIR he could only “offer a laugh” and nothing more.

Khan kept the mum over the matter and never uttered a single word on this.

Now the ISPR issued a statement admitting involvement of two officials of Rangers and ISI,  would PM Khan dare to say again that “I can only offer a laugh at this”.

This is a huge embarrassment for Imran Khan whose team was notoriously alleging others for this episode.

The ISPR further said in a statement issued on Tuesday that further departmental proceedings are underway against Rangers and ISI officials for acting “overzealously”.

Former premier Nawaz Sharif has rejected the inquiry report saying that real characters behind this incident have been protected.

“The court of inquiry which was
set up on the orders of Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa,
has established that on the night of Oct 18/Oct 19, officers from Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and ISI sector Headquarters Karachi were considerably seized with the fall out of the desecration of Mazar-e-Quaid.”

“They were under increasing public pressure to ensure prompt action as per the law. Assessing the response of police authorities against this developing yet volatile situation to be slow and wanting, in a charged environment, the concerned officers decided to act, rather overzealously.”

“They were indeed experienced enough to have acted more prudently and could have avoided creating an unwarranted situation that led to the misunderstanding between the two state institutions.

“Based on the recommendations of the court of inquiry, it has been decided to remove the concerned officers from their current assignments for further departmental proceedings and disposal at GHQ,” the ISPR statement said.

On October 19, Safdar, who was staying at a Karachi hotel with his wife Maryam Nawaz was arrested for “violating the sanctity of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s mausoleum. Maryam had accused that her room door was broken by the security officials.

Former premier Nawaz Sharif has rejected the inquiry report saying that real characters behind this incident have been protected.

Although it is a major initiative of the army chief to take action against the forces men for misusing their powers Imran Khan appears a pygmy in the whole scenario. PAK DESTINY
