Although having serious differences with the Sharif family, the PML leadership — Chaudhry Shujat Hussain and Chauhdry Parvez Elahi — have put these behind and visited the Jati Umra to condole the death of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.
On Friday both Mr Shujaat and Mr Elahi attended the funeral of Begum Kulsoom and on Sunday Mr Shujaat, Moonis Elahi, Shafay Hussain, Salik Hussain and Rasikh Elahi met with Nawaz Sharif at Jaati Umra and offered condolences to him. They also offered the “fateha khwani” for Begum Kulsoom.
Chaudhry Shujat Hussain told Nawaz Sharif that Begum Kulsoom was very brave and serious lady. The PML-Q leaders prayed for eternal rest in peace for the departed soul and solace for the bereaved family. “Begum Kulsoom had great services for the country,” he said.
The Chaudhrys of Gujrat always show a big heart on such occasions. They command equal respect for their political friends and ‘enemies’ because of this trait of their personality which many contemporary politicians lack.
Although Shahbaz Sharif was reportedly behind framing Moonis Elahi in a fake case in the past but the Chaudhrys on this occasion left behind their differences and acrimony and attended the funeral of Kulsoom and also met the Sharif brothers. This gesture of their is being appreciated on the social media.
Interestingly, this attitude we hardly witness among most of the politicians. For an example, Awami Muslim League president and Railways Minister Shiekh Rasheed did not attend the funeral of Begum Kulsoom whom he once worked with and had great respect. Rasheed is being criticised on social media for showing the character of a being a ‘little man’. Pak Destiny
